With the esteemed journalist, Benedicte Paviot, as our Master of Ceremony, we connected eminent personalities from across the industry to analyse the structural economic, social, and environmental impacts of the last year on our economy, sector, and community.
The morning commenced with Belgium’s National Bank Governor Pierre Wunsch presenting an Economic Outlook Forecast for the Belgian market and beyond. This was followed by a conversation with Thomas Dermine, State Secretary for Economic Recovery and Strategic Investments, who shared his vision, ambitions, and the priorities of the Economic Recovery Plan for the economy and real estate industry.
The ‘ESG IMPACTS’ session kicked off with a brief presentation by Lisette van Doorn (CEO, ULI Europe) on the main findings of ULI’s report ‘Zooming in on the “S” in ESG: A Road Map for Social Value in Real Estate’. This made way for a discussion with Etienne Cadestin (Founder & Global CEO, Longevity) and Dr Maarten Jennen (Senior Director – Global Strategist, PGGM) on the positive impact that real estate investment and development can have on our communities beyond financial returns. The session was moderated by and Mariya Tsvetkova (Investment Associate, NREP).
This year’s annual conference was brought to a close with a short ceremony to announce the new chair of ULI Belgium & Luxembourg. The incoming Chair, Gabriel Uzgen (CEO, BESIX RED) was joined by Lisette van Doorn and Xavier Denis and together they discussed a range of topics highlighting the importance of ULI for our sector.
